Sleep
I’m exhausted all day… and wide awake at 3am.
Menopause disrupts the very systems that run your sleep: estrogen, progesterone, cortisol. It’s real, and it’s treatable.
Perimenopause and menopause touch your sleep, your mind, your mood, and your body, all at once. Mariposa treats all of it, in one place, with clinicians who specialize in exactly this. Tell us what you’re feeling, and we’ll explain the hormonal shift behind it.
For any woman with perimenopausal or menopausal symptoms, at any age, in the greater Huntsville area and across Alabama.
You’re not imagining it
I’m exhausted all day… and wide awake at 3am.
Menopause disrupts the very systems that run your sleep: estrogen, progesterone, cortisol. It’s real, and it’s treatable.
I walked into the room and forgot why I was there.
This is menopausal brain fog: largely hormonal, and not the start of decline. Your sharpness isn’t gone. It’s being interrupted.
I cried in the car over nothing, and I don’t know why.
Your moods have real, physical drivers. You’re not “too much,” and you’re not imagining it. Your body’s chemistry shifted, and no one told you.
Nothing about my life changed. So why did my body?
Estrogen touches nearly everything: weight, energy, joints, heart, memory. A whole-body transition needs whole-body care.
Every one of those has a name, a cause, and something that can be done about it. Nobody ever told you that. That’s the moment Mariposa was built for.
See everything we treatThe whole picture
You keep telling yourself it’ll be over by next year. Then next year comes. That isn’t you doing something wrong. The median run is 7.4 years, and it can start as early as your mid-30s.
Reality: median 7.4 years; for some, 10+
You did bring it up. You got a shrug, a prescription for something else, or “you’re still getting your period.” Still getting your period isn’t a reason to wait. It’s the definition of perimenopause, and the window when treatment works best.
For every 10 women with symptoms, 8 never get real care.
It never fits into one appointment, because it was never one thing. Sleep, mood, weight, joints, memory: 30+ symptoms wired to the same shift, and the long-term risks underneath that nobody mentions.
Sources: SWAN (median 7.4-year symptom duration); Mayo Clinic (>80% untreated); “30+” kept as a deliberately defensible range.
The turn
One plan, not six appointments
There is no menu and no default protocol. Your plan starts with a real conversation and the right labs, gets built around your body, and gets adjusted as you change. Every card below is part of one plan, built around one woman: you.
Modern, evidence-based HRT: individualized dosing, honest risk-benefit conversations, and the current science. No pellets, no sales pitch.
For women who can’t, or prefer not to. Non-hormonal medications, peptides, and targeted therapies. Real alternatives, not a shrug.
“Eating the same but gaining weight” is real physiology, not willpower. Nutrition, muscle, insulin, and GLP-1 medications where they genuinely fit.
Night sweats, 3am wake-ups, sleep that doesn’t restore. Rebuilt first, because nothing else works without it.
Anxiety from nowhere, mood swings, lost words. Real hormonal drivers, screened for, taken seriously, treated, never dismissed.
Dryness, pain, low libido, urinary changes: extremely common, progressive without treatment, and very treatable. We bring it up so you don’t have to.
Bone loss accelerates around the final period and heart risk rises after menopause. The plan protects the decades ahead, not just this season.
Hysterectomy, oophorectomy, or cancer treatment: you didn’t get a transition, you got a cliff. It deserves care designed for exactly that.
Why Mariposa is different
Dear Huntsville,
In 2002, I was a brand-new doctor starting my OB-GYN training. That same year, the Women’s Health Initiative, a landmark hormone study, came out that frightened patients and caused doctors to essentially stop writing prescriptions for hormones. My mother also happened to be starting perimenopause at the same time. I put my educated foot down and would not let her take hormones.
Eventually, the real truth came out. Further review of the original study revealed that timing and different formulations of hormones can actually help women live longer, fuller lives. My mom and millions like her had to suffer because doctors like me thought they knew best.
Now I am perimenopausal. My sisters and my friends are perimenopausal. I get so many calls from people asking how to survive this transition, because they often don’t get any real answers from doctors who have only seven minutes to see them. I realized that the one thing we all need is education and a listening ear to arrive at a real solution.
I built Mariposa because of those decades my mom lost. No woman in this town should be told “deal with it” while real help sits on the shelf.
You are not crazy. You are not imagining this. And you are not alone.

A simple path
Your full story: symptoms, history, life. We listen first. Your consultation is a full hour, not a seven-minute slot.
Comprehensive lab work, hormonal, metabolic, and thyroid, included in your consultation, so decisions are made on data, not guesses.
You leave with a clear picture and the start of a personalized plan. Ongoing care adjusts as you do, so you keep feeling strong, clear, and at home in your body.
You won’t do this alone
Inside the clinic we built The Grove: a living room, not a waiting room. Every week, women gather there for a Mariposa Conversation: an hour of real learning with a specialist, where no question is off the table.
Before you ask
Perimenopause can begin as early as your mid-30s, and its symptoms overlap with thyroid issues, stress, and other conditions. That’s exactly why we start with a real evaluation and the right labs, so you get a clear answer, not a guess.
No. Hormone therapy is one option among many. Your plan might include hormones, metabolic or nutritional support, peptides, or other approaches, built around your body, your history, and your preferences.
Much of that fear traces back to headlines from 2002 that later research has substantially revised, especially for women near the start of menopause. We’ll walk you through the current evidence and your personal risks and benefits, clearly and without pressure.
Yes. Perimenopause is often when symptoms are most confusing and most treatable. You don’t have to wait until it’s “official.”
Especially you. Surgical menopause is often more sudden and more intense than natural menopause, and it’s one of the most overlooked situations in medicine. Yes, this clinic is built for you too.
“Normal” for the general population isn’t the same as optimal for you. We look at the whole picture, symptoms, history, and labs together, not a single number in isolation.
We don’t bill insurance for our care. Menopause medicine takes real time, and insurance reimbursement is built around short visits. Staying outside it is what lets us give you a full hour instead of seven minutes. Your one-hour consultation is a flat $299, comprehensive lab work included, so there is nothing to file and no surprise bill afterward.
No. You can book directly: no referral, no gatekeeping. Bring yourself, your questions, and any recent labs or med lists you have. Don’t worry if you have none. We’ll take it from the top.
Yes, that’s exactly what our weekly Conversations are for. An hour in The Grove, our living-room space at the clinic: real education, any question you want to ask, no patient status required.
Genuinely, yes. Partners are welcome at visits, we run events for them, and the Partner’s Guide was built to bring them into the picture.
The other side
Sleeping through the night. Clear-headed. Energy for the people you love. At home in your body, and finally understood. That’s not a fantasy. It’s what happens when someone finally treats the whole picture.
